Sri Lanka Food
Sri Lanka cuisine has influences from the colonial ruling period, foreign traders and the South region of India. Many cultures have influenced Sri Lanka’s cuisine considering its position on the route between East and West. Neighbours, traders, immigrants and colonizers have all left their mark on Sri Lankan food, as a spice producer and trading post over several centuries creating a mouthwatering blend of Dutch, Portuguese, English, Arab, Malay and Indian flavours.
Rice is the main diet of Sri Lankan cuisine and is generally served either boiled or steamed, accompanied by various curries.
